Michael Saltalamachia is the Veterans of Foreign War Post 12223 appointed Adjutant and retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank within the Air Force. 

Comrade Saltalamachia served from December 1982 until February 2012 and earned his Veterans of Foreign War while serving in Korea, Turkey during Operation Provide Comfort, Saudi Arabia during Operation Southern Watch, and Kuwait during Operation Iraq Freedom. 

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with 7 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and the  Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal.

Comrade Saltalamachia continued his service after retiring from the Air Force by working as a Special Security Officer with the Department of Defense in Japan and Korea.  In October 2024, he fully retired after 42 years of dedicated service to the defense of the United States and relocated to Montgomery, Texas.
