James Sprayberry, a member of VFW Post 12223 in Montgomery, TX was elected as Post Junior Vice Commander when the post was stood up on July 01, 2023.

Comrade Sprayberry joined the U.S. Navy in 1998 and fulfilled his enlistment in 2002 with an Honorable Discharge. In 2004 he joined the U.S. Army National Guard as a Heavy Equipment Operator where he earned his VFW eligibility while serving in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom III from 2004 - 2005. Where he also received an Honorable Discharge.

His awards while serving in the U.S. Navy includes a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Ribbon and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. While serving in the Army National Guard he received an Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and an Iraq Campaign Medal.
